Today, I’m inviting you guys, my rabid fan base to comment on what you think is the best part of this classic 11 min long Isaac Hayes mega jam.
You’ve got 3 choices:
1) the Intro at 0:10:
It sets the mood and pace for the whole track, when the horns hit, you can’t help nod your head, and, it’s the most identifiable part of the song.
Sampled by Snoop Dogg for Gz Up, Hoes Down
2) The interlude at 1:20
Finally the track opens up after a heavy intro, give the horns some!
Sampled by Jay Z for Can I Live
3) jazzcat moment at 9:01
This part isn’t even the end, there’s still a super reverby rehash of the intro at the 10 minute mark.
Sampled by Smif N Wessun for Stand Strong
Whad’ya say, vote below or in the comments or @ me...maybe I should have included the 4 min. guitar solo from 4:00 – 8:00?
Thanks for playing along, this is a great tune for the ages.
FromĀ …To Be Continued, released through Stax Records, 1970.
Hey,
It’s gotta be the second part which Jay-Z samples. Strong horns and the most soulful part in my opinion. Special Ed – Neva Go Back also samples the horns too. For some reason it reminds me of the chord progression of George Duke – For Love I Come.
Nice to see you keeping the site updated! Last checked it a couple of years back now when you kindly included one of my ideas!
Keep on
Wicked Simon, thanks for the comment, send in another track if you want!
