0174 Drake – Preach featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR @ 2:15

“Doing it right is a whole different story…”

Listen at :06, when they cut the filter, it had to be that number right.

Best part of the album in my mind, and you know why he had the drop the album so fast? K dot in his rear view.. K dot is next on TBPOS.

Preach 2:06 – 2:28

From If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, released through Ovo records, 2015

0165 Tegan and Sara – Back in your Head @ 2:16

“I just want back in your head…”

I think if you know this song, you’ll agree with me. The run, run, run part is a sneaky lie as James Murphy would say.

Unless you’d say the piano part, man I can play that.

Back in your Head 2:16 – 2:46

From The Con, released through Vapor records, 2007.

0159 Drake – Too Much @ 0:47

“most people in my position get complacent, want to come places with star girls”

There are some great moments on the Drake album, the sample on the Jay Z track, the intro to Connect, the chorus on Furthest Thing, and then the way the drums drop here on Too Much. It feels like they’re late. Love the flow too, and hearing Sampha takes me back to that great SBTRKT album. The Jimmy Fallon performance is worth a look too, great stuff from our hometown representative.

Too Much 2:45 – 5:45

From Nothing Was the Same, released through Cash Money Records, 2013

0156 Mo Kenney – Sucker @ 0:49

“…and now you’re just a memory, of everything I’d hoped you’d be”

I heard the last half of this song on CBC 2 one night, and sought it out. What a gem.

Sucker 0:49 – 1:15

Read more on her website, and check out a nice live performance of the song.

0153 Chilly Gonzales – Kenaston @ 2:19

Thursday, May 16th, 2013

I think I came back to this after I saw he was guesting on the new Daft Punk album. Daft could work with anyone they want, and they chose Chilly for a reason.

And that reason is in this clip, listen up, I gave you a lead in, the best part starts at :10.

Kenaston 2:09 – 2:29

From Solo Piano II, released through Gentle Threat Records, 2012
