“See you will never ever catch me no…….no”

Flylo stays ahead the pack with this genius collab with Kendrick Lamar. The whole track is such fire (thanks Kendrick) until this point when the jazz meets the beats meets that heat. whut whut. never ever catch meeeeeee.

0163 Burial – Come Down To Us @ 8:40

Monday, February 24th, 2014

I started this blog 5 years ago with a Burial post, so it’s fitting that on the 5 year anniversary, I go back to Burial. And again, I’ll keep it simple, this is the 163rd one.

Come Down To Us 8:12 – 9:19 (0:25 mark)

“Ready.. Ready for Action”

I’m putting it in the metal category : ) I love how much is going on this track – tribal chants, wild ass drums, the weird ‘black’ sample, Reverbed guitar, insane bass, and Kanye going next level like he always does. Don’t stop yeezy.

Black Skinhead 1:47 – 2:16

From Yeezus, released through Rocafella Records, 2013

0154 James Blake – Overgrown @ 3:35

“..time passes and the constants stay”

While the bass that opens up this first track of the album is amazing, it’s this big orchestral sound at 3:35 that announces and confirms what he’s all about, and where he’s going.

Overgrown 3:03 – 3:50

From Overgrown, released through Atlas Records, 2013

0149 Burial – Rough Sleeper @ 2:14

Monday, February 4th, 2013

If you like Burial, make sure you read Pitchfork’s review of this 12, it’s great.

It’s tough to pick the best part, because like they say in the article, there’s really 3 tracks over the course of Rough Sleeper’s 14 minutes.

But I keep coming back to the organ, listen to the funny way it loops.

Rough Sleeper 1:58 – 2:28

From Truant, released through Hyper Dub Records, 2012

“..on the beach, on the ocean of my dreamscape only in my dreams”

It’s like homemade lo-fi Beach boys right? The best part is the chorus I think, but the guitar throughout makes the track. The video is worth watching to see the humour in the song, and look out for the Dam Funk track on the album too.

Only in My Dreams 0:40 – 1:04
