LCD Soundsystem Interview in Toronto – This is Happening

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

“We’re gonna do the record in Spanish, and do the Panda market as well…”

I’ve posted this on Lowsound, but I want to share it here too. Last year I got to interview James and Nancy from LCD Soundsystem thanks to Ira at ExploreMusic. It was a blast, they’re both cool as hell. I think this may be their last ever interview :).. so enjoy!

“If you ain’t got nothing nice to say, then don’t say nuthin”

The last song on the Eminem Show album sees EM at the height of his career. He’d blown up after his single, Stan, a couple years earlier, but on this album he became not only a superstar (Without me) but a Top 5 MC (Squaredance, My Dad’s gone crazy)

Beware: this part is not safe for work, it’s not safe for society :)

Dre on the high hat.

0120 Isaac Hayes – The Look of Love – Vote for your favourite part

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Today, I’m inviting you guys, my rabid fan base to comment on what you think is the best part of this classic 11 min long Isaac Hayes mega jam.

You’ve got 3 choices:

1) the Intro at 0:10:
It sets the mood and pace for the whole track, when the horns hit, you can’t help nod your head, and, it’s the most identifiable part of the song.

Sampled by Snoop Dogg for Gz Up, Hoes Down

2) The interlude at 1:20
Finally the track opens up after a heavy intro, give the horns some!

3) jazzcat moment at 9:01
This part isn’t even the end, there’s still a super reverby rehash of the intro at the 10 minute mark.

Sampled by Smif N Wessun for Stand Strong

Whad’ya say, vote below or in the comments or @ me...maybe I should have included the 4 min. guitar solo from 4:00 – 8:00?

Thanks for playing along, this is a great tune for the ages.
